Inspiration from the Bee

Honeybees are miraculous creatures, and when we take a moment to reflect on their behavior then we’ll understand the purpose of these understated members of our ecosystem. As the honeybee makes her journey through the ecosystem, gently landing on a delicate flower to extract its generous pollen and proceed to-and-fro amongst flowers, spreading the pollen upon her wherever she goes, she is creating a chain reaction that is often taken for granted. After this daily journey of traveling up to as many as 20,000 flowers per day, the honeybee returns to the hive where other honeybees work together in producing one of the world’s sweetest natural indulgences, honey. Little was known regarding the honeybee & the nutritional benefits of honey, however in the Qur’aan God states:

وَأَوْحَىٰ رَبُّكَ إِلَى النَّحْلِ أَنِ اتَّخِذِي مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا وَمِنَ الشَّجَرِ وَمِمَّا يَعْرِشُونَ
ثُمَّ كُلِي مِن كُلِّ الثَّمَرَاتِ فَاسْلُكِي سُبُلَ رَبِّكِ ذُلُلًا ۚ يَخْرُجُ مِن بُطُونِهَا شَرَابٌ مُّخْتَلِفٌ أَلْوَانُهُ فِيهِ شِفَاءٌ لِّلنَّاسِ ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

And your Lord inspired the (female) bee: “Take for yourself dwelling-place in the mountains, and in the trees, and in what they (human beings) may build and weave. Then eat of all the fruits, and returning with your loads, follow the ways your Lord has made easy for you.” There comes forth from their bellies a fluid of varying color, wherein is health for human beings. Surely, in this there is a sign for people who reflect. {The Bee: 68-69}

The miraculous honeybee is a source of inspiration for the vision of Be a Mercy Foundation. Like the honeybee, we look forward to disseminating the good effort of our members amongst humankind to produce positive change in the lives of those in need of sustenance, stability, and comfort.
